NOTE: Each day between now and Christmas, I will post a short Advent devotional to help us prepare for the Christmas season. The artwork for these devotionals is provided by children from Wildwood Community Church‘s children’s ministry.
Read: Galatians 4:4-5
Around the holidays, many of us spend time preparing our homes for the arrival of friends and family. We clean the house, cook food, and clear the schedule so we are ready to enjoy our friends when they arrive. This time of year, churches all over the world also spend some time getting ready to celebrate Someone’s coming. We don’t just clean the church, have a potluck, or cancel activities though. Instead, we spend time clearing out our hearts and minds to focus on Jesus Christ. This time of focus is known as Advent (a Latin Word that means “coming”) and for about four weeks leading up to Christmas, we let every heart prepare Him room, as we join heaven and nature singing and remembering when Christ first came into the world on the first Christmas morning.
Question: What are some things you can do as a person or family this Advent season to help you focus on Jesus this year?
Teachings of the Devil – why? – it isn’t in the teachings of Christ!
