Read: Matthew 1:20-25
Imagine you are at a public swimming pool and venture into the deep end . . . yet you cannot swim. You splash your arms around and kick your legs, but no matter how hard you try, you can’t keep your head above water. That is a scary thought isn’t it? If you found yourself in that situation, you would need someone to jump into the water and save you. Someone like a lifeguard. When the angel speaks with Joseph in a dream about the birth of Jesus, he describes Jesus as someone who would “save His people from their sins.” In a sense, the angel was saying that spiritually speaking, we are drowning in sin and need Someone to jump in and save us. Our Eternal Lifeguard, Jesus Christ, loves us enough to pull us to safety.
Question of the Day: Have you ever trusted in Jesus as your Savior from sin?
NOTE: Each day between now and Christmas, I will be posting these devotional thoughts concerning Advent to this blog.
