God’s Signature by Mark Robinson

Read: Isaiah 7:9-11

In life, many times we have to sign our name to different papers to verify that those papers belong to us.  Kids, you write your name on your homework or a test to let your teacher know that it is your work.  Adults, you sign your name on check or a contract to show your authorization for the commitment made therein.

In Isaiah 7:9-11, God “signs His name” to a promise that one day He will send His Son to live with His people.  God’s signature, was not just a few strokes of a pen, but something far greater.  God would mark the promise to send His Son by promising to do something supernatural at His birth.  Jesus’s birth to His mother Mary was unique and special.  Through these unique events God was guaranteeing that Jesus was definitely “from Him” and that His work was authorized to bring about forgiveness between us and God for the sins we have committed.  I am so thankful that God did special things concerning the birth of Jesus so that you and I would know for sure that God was with Him.  What’s even more special is that Jesus nickname was Immanuel . . . which means that in Jesus, God is actually with us!
